February 2023 is UK LGBTQ+ History Month!

UON is celebrating LGBTQ+ History Month through a series of inclusive events throughout February for both students and staff.

The theme for this year’s festival is #BehindtheLens, celebrating the contribution of LGBTQ+ people working in film and screen both past and present!

Look out for the short histories on the campus screens, showcasing LGBTQ+ people who have made a significant difference to people’s lives both now and in the recent past.

A big event will be QSpace’s LGBTQ+ History exhibition, taking place in the main foyer on the 20 and 21st February 2023.

Loads of resources are available on the UK LGBTQ+ History Month website, including educational materials for schools and educators and also learning resources and promotional materials for individuals, organizations, and businesses.

UON’s Library also have a curated selection of books and resources available in a special display and via this online reading list.

If you have any suggestions for LGBTQ+ lives #BehindtheLens you wish to commemorate, do send them to us via our social media!
